Every week we search for interesting stories about cats and their owners. This week we ended up in Surrey, United Kingdom with Hannah. She told us about her British Shorthair, Etna, who seems to have invented the word ‘cattitude’.
Special place
Hannah's cat is named after the volcano Etna on the Italian island of Sicily. This place is extra special for Hannah because it is where she was proposed to. Combined with the color of his coat, Etna is the perfect name for the British Shorthair born in 2020. When the litter with Etna was born, many corona rules were still in effect. For Hannah, this meant that she was not allowed to make personal visits to the litter and that almost all contact had to take place via the phone. Fortunately, she received many photos and videos of him, and with his charming little face, Hannah was sold.

Because they took Etna in during COVID-19, Hannah can confirm that he helped them get through it. “Etna means everything to us, on bad days he is always there for cuddles. His playful character and cute antics fill our hearts with so much joy!” Hannah tells us.
No more baby
When Etna turned 1 year old, and really no longer fit on his cat tree, Hannah and her fiancé decided to give their furry baby a nice birthday present. In the form of a new cat tree, that became the Maine Coon Lounge. In the ideal spot in the conservatory, Etna has found his new favorite place “It’s wonderful, from the big bed he has a view of the garden and birds."

Besides the cat tree fitting well with the home's decor, Hannah indicates that Etna sits like a true king on his cat tree and can look out over his kingdom from there! When Hannah finds him there after a day of work, she greets him immediately. “The best thing is to hear him purr when he greets us, it is unconditional love,” she says.
Special need
Meanwhile, we see on Etna's growing Instagram account that he has now become a big brother! He gladly shares the attention now. As long as he can still express his preferences. Because Etna has those! Especially when it comes to drinking water. It must only be fresh, cold water from the tap. The picky Etna jumps onto the countertop to indicate that he is ready to drink. If you don't notice that, he meows so that Hannah rushes over to turn on the filtered water tap and let him drink from it. What a delightful picky boy!
As we already said, Etna seems to be the inventor of the word 'cattitude'!
