The changing of seasons not only brings changes in the weather, but also affect our feline friends. As cat owners, it is our responsibility to ensure the well-being of our furry four-legged friends all year round.

Let's take a look at how to keep our cats happy and healthy all year round.

Summer

In summer, the sun and heat can be quite a challenge for our feline friends, especially for our cats with somewhat thicker coats. It is therefore good to pay attention to a few things.

Here are 3 tips to keep your cat safe in summer :)

  • Hydration: Make sure that fresh water is always
    available, for hot days.
  • Cooling & Shade: Create shade spots in and around
your house and prevent your cat from lying in hot spots in the sun. It is also
very important that there is sufficient ventilation in the house
  • Travel & vacations: If you are planning to
travel, rain on time to care for your cat or prepare your cat well for the
    trip, if it comes along.

Autumn

When you think of autumn, you might think of some colder weather, and beautiful colours. But even in autumn, there are a number of points to watch out for with a cat.

  • Leaves & Poisonous Plants: Make sure your garden and house are free of poisonous
plants, if you don't know which plants are poisonous? Then read our previous
blog and that your cat does not play in leaf piles. This can be dangerous.
  • Comfortable and Cozy: Make it cozy inside the house for your cat with soft blankets and warmer
sleeping spots as the temperatures are already starting to drop.
Winter

As everyone knows, winter is the coldest month and it may snow.
It can sometimes be a challenge for cats to keep themselves warm. That's why we
have a number of tips, so that even in the coldest months of the year, your cat
will still be nice and warm, without you having to turn up the heating super
high.

  • Indoor activities: Because
of the cold, you will notice that your cat is indoors more. Make sure your
cat gets enough distraction. This way the cat is warm and can still lose
    its energy:)
  • Warm places: Make sure your cat has access to some
warmer places where he can retreat. Think of a scratching post or a
    scratching barrel.

Except that winter contains coldest months. According
to some, they are also the coziest months, think of Christmas. During
Christmas, be careful with Christmas decorations and plants that can be harmful
to your cat.

Spring

And then spring, the last season. During spring, temperatures slowly but surely rise again. Often, cats are outside more often during these months because they have not been outside much for a long time due to the cold. But again, there are a number of things to consider.

Here are some things you should consider / could do to start spring well!

  • Flea
    & Tick Control:
In the spring the ticks bloom. Make sure you check your
cat carefully for these parasites. You can also give your cat a Flea or tick
    cure as a precautionary measure.
  • Garden safety: Make sure the garden is safe.
Think of a fence or a cat run. And make sure there are poisonous plants in the
    garden.
  • Spring Cleaning: Clean not only your own home
well during Spring Cleaning, but also your cat's!
