Black cats bring bad luck according to ancient superstitions; they were even associated with witchcraft and the devil. Today, the saying ‘black cats bring bad luck’ is still known, and some people still heed it. Research even shows that black cats stay in shelters longer than cats of any other colour. How incredibly sad! We believe that all cats can only bring happiness regardless of the colour of their fur.

In this blog, cat lovers share a lucky moment with their black cat!
Lena, Olaf and Mama Miss Karmilla

The best moment Lena and Olaf experienced with their Bombay cat Karmilla was when Karmilla was reunited with her two sons Monty and Balu. At a family reunion, they saw each other again after a long time. They had to get used to each other for a while, but soon it was a beautiful sight.

Karmilla joined Lena and Olaf from Bremen at the age of three, and they already had two of Karmilla's daughters, Pi and Ra, by then. In total, Karmilla gave birth to seven kittens and is now enjoying being with her family.

Michelle and James

For two years now, Michelle and her boyfriend have been proud owners of sweet black tomcat James. It was love at first sight and since then they cannot live without each other. Contrary to the saying ‘black cats bring bad luck’, James brings a lot of love, happiness and laughter every day. So when we ask Michelle about a lucky moment, it doesn't stop at just one. ‘When I wake up and am greeted with a happy cat and a sweet grunt, and this is always right around 7 o'clock. When we enjoy our night's rest together and are sleeping together all night, you read it right: at night, we just sleep together for several hours without James getting zoomies! Super cosy! Or when he is playing with my friend. But especially when, after a long day at work, I know that James is already at the door window because he hears my car, and is eager to greet me; this immediately puts a smile on my face’ she tells. Actually, there are so many more moments, for Michelle James is one big explosion of happiness.

Deborah, Norah and Noxx

As far as Deborah is concerned, there is no one specific moment of happiness. For her, every day with her black cats Norah and Noxx is one with happiness. It starts early in the morning when they wake up together, during the day and in the evening when they fall asleep again. Norah and Noxx have their own room, a Corner Coon and a Devon Rex, but apart from that, they are also regularly in bed with Deborah. ‘This is something I can only enjoy’ she tells.

Sanne and Saar

Sanne has always been a big animal lover. Animals that bring bad luck? That doesn't enter Sanne's mind. Since living on her own, she immediately seized the opportunity to become a real cat mum. Including Saar, a black cat who was very shy at first, but also very cuddly. She was given the appropriately sweet name Saar. Saar lives with her brothers Gijs and Moos and provide lots of fun adventures, cuddles and playtime every day.

‘Many people who come over here also call Saar ‘Diva’, and she often behaves accordingly. Saar loves fancy wet food, but leaves the kibble alone. She also likes my food... so every now and then she gets a little lick! Saar knows only too well how to look sweet to get that done over and over again... Her beautiful yellowish eyes stand out well and that's how she manages to charm me every time’, Sanne says. Of her three cats, Saar is therefore the biggest gourmet.

When Saar comes to lie with Sanne, sometimes even on top of her head, Sanne hears her purr and knows that Saar is completely at ease. Yes, Sanne speaks of being very lucky with her cuddly dog Saar.

Tanya and Bumble Bee

Tanya from Australia also shares her happy moment with her black cat Bumble Bee, who gets his name from Tanya's daughter. According to Tanya, Bumble is the best cat ever, they obtained him from a shelter when he was little and immediately found him incredibly cute. Bumble even likes to go shopping with them, then they put his harness on him and he likes this only too much.

Tanya says Bumble is absolutely wonderful, ‘he has never used his nails before’. Bumble is SO incredibly sweet, he loves everyone and every cat. Meanwhile, Tanya has rescued two more cats from the shelter, and Bumble is kind and gentle with those too. ‘I am very lucky to have found Bumble, and he is treated like a king in this home’ says Tanya.
