Daniëlle named her cat after her deceased father

Tarzan, Jane and Finn

Daniëlle currently has four cats at home, but it all started with Jane. She is now eleven years old. Jane first lived with Daniëlle's neighbors, together with her brother Tarzan and their dog Finn. That was not really a success. "Jane really had no say there, because Tarzan and Finn were the bosses in the house. Jane was very submissive. Fortunately, my neighbors realized that Jane needed a better home where she could fully develop. When they decided to move, they looked for a new home for Jane," Daniëlle says. "I really wanted to give her a new home! Since she has been living with me, she is much happier and has completely blossomed into the cat she is now."

Man of the house

Besides Jane, Daniëlle has another cat in the house, named Dikkat. She watched him grow up from a young age. "From the moment his mother was pregnant until the birth, I was able to follow everything, which was incredibly nice. It's as if we immediately formed a bond," Daniëlle says. Once she took him home, Dikkat immediately made it clear that he was the boss. "He had to assert himself, he really wanted to prove that he was the man of the house. Fortunately, Jane and Dikkat get along perfectly; they are each other's best buddies."

While we're at it...

Just like with Dikkat, Danielle met her third cat, Mister Handsome, very early on. "I thought, 'if I can raise two cats, I can raise three.' Plenty of room!", Daniëlle says. Just as Jane and Dikkat get along well, they immediately accepted Mister Handsome into the family.

"Everything went perfectly in our household, the cats are crazy about each other, they get along well... It was as if nothing could go wrong."

A sign

Unfortunately, Daniëlle suddenly had to say goodbye to her father. On April 10, 2020, Daniëlle's father Toon passed away due to the consequences of the coronavirus. "He was 76 years old, but still so healthy and athletic, he was still working in his own business...", Daniëlle says. Her world came to a standstill for a moment and her cats immediately sensed that something was wrong. "They started cuddling me even more, it was as if they felt that something was not right."

Daniëlle did not want to keep mourning, she wanted to do something to cope with her grief. "I had to follow my heart, I had to do something. Then I heard through the grapevine that a new litter of kittens had been born. I felt it was a sign, that I had to have one of those kittens. Of course, I knew a kitten would not replace my father, but in the end, it was one of the best decisions I have ever made."

"And there he was, so beautiful, with gray hair... A bit like my father. That's why I decided to name him Toontje. It is an honor to be named after my father," says Daniëlle.

Best purchase ever!

Daniëlle's cats have been best friends for a very long time, it's as if they have always been together. Two years ago, she decided to give them a Corner Coon cat tree as a gift, and she calls it the best purchase she has ever made for her cats. "They use it all the time. It is sturdy, strong, compact, and also very beautiful!"

Cat family

Daniëlle never had cats before she decided to take Jane in, because she is actually allergic to them. Yet she couldn't do without them. "To be honest, I wouldn't know what to do without them. If I had to choose, I would definitely get another one! I have no children and no partner, but I am the happiest person ever."
