Every week we look for interesting stories about cats and their owners. This week it was Helen from Wigan's turn, near Manchester and Liverpool. She lives there with her family and their cat Loki. Fans of Marvel comics might recognize this name from the comic books or as the character from their favorite movie or show. Loki is named after the character, "but also because he is the absolute master of chaos," Helen adds.
Loki and Jack
"We have two rescues, Blue and Bertie, but Loki was our first Maine Coon. After Loki came Wade, another Maine Coon," says Helen. "Our third Maine Coon, Yondu, joined us in November."
Loki even has some similarities with her child, Jak. "My son Jak really wanted a ginger boyfriend like that, so we got him one for his 7th birthday. They have such a special bond." Loki always waits for 13-year-old Jak after school. "Every time Jak comes home, Loki goes to him and rubs his face against Jak's hand. Then Jak says, 'come on, my fluff, are you coming upstairs?' and Loki hops after him."
My son wanted a red-haired friend just like him
Helen told us that the joy he has brought Jak is immense. "When Jak's bedroom door is closed, Loki screams and bangs on the door to be let in. Once inside, you can hear him purring as you walk up the stairs."

Cheeky
"Loki always makes us smile, but sometimes it turns into teeth grinding," says Helen. "He wipes things off your tabletop while looking at you, he's already broken many glasses. He raids the bags when you're unpacking groceries and has once run off with steak and packs of ham. He can open cupboards and drawers, so you often notice that he's helped himself to a snack. We had to replace the tap in our old kitchen because I kept coming home from work and the water was running while he was watching and playing with it."
Own little place
Loki, Wade, Blue, and Bertie get to hang out on the Corner Coon, which perfectly fits five cats. With two hammocks and several resting spots, they all find a place to sleep. "Wade likes to lie on top, while Bertie is obsessed with the hammocks," says Helen. So do we!
